The culprits behind an asthmatic attack are moist or damp air, entry of a foreign body, exposure to any allergens, tobacco smoke, dander from pets, irritants in the occupational place, pollen and mold from the environment, emotional stress, certain medications, lack of activity, exercise , change in the temperature and perfumes. Preservatives and additives in foods, in addition to, high intake of processed foods contribute to asthma. Poor antioxidant levels in the diet also trigger an asthma attack.
Asthma Treatment
Treatment for the allergy is given, in case of asthma, due to pollen or dander. Anti-IgE monoclonal antibodies and allergy desensitization are effective. Long term control medications include long acting beta-2 agonists, inhaled corticosteroids, bronchodilators, leukotriene modifiers and so on. Quick relief medications include anti cholinergic medications, oral or intravenous corticosteroids and short acting beta-2 agonists.

- Treatment with roasted grams: Eat some roasted grams every night and follow it up with a glass of warm milk.
- Treatment with banana: Burn a banana on a reduced flame. Sprinkle some black pepper powder over it and mash well. This is an excellent remedy for asthma.
- Treatment with salt: Make a paste of rock salt with castor oil or ghee. Topical application of this paste over the chest proves beneficial.
- Treatment with basil leaves: Eat fresh leaves of basil with some pepper powder, sprinkled on them.
- Treatment with honey and figs: About four figs are useful, when taken in the morning. Add a tablespoon of honey to a tablespoon of safflower seeds and consume, everyday. A paste of turmeric powder (one teaspoon) with two teaspoons of honey is helpful.
