Yoga, Health & Healing
Health is, actually, all in the mind which, in turn is manifested in the body. And so the saying “healthy mind in a healthy body.” Our health actually depends on our state of mind and it is only manifest in the body. Without mental health no one can be really happy, and minus the happiness one can’t really be healthy. Happiness is a positive mental state and not just the absence of a negative one. It is more than just absence of an illness or ailment. Western medicine has long since treated disease as only illness and ailment: enemies that attack us who should be counter-attacked. However, in matter of fact, disease is nothing more than an internal discrepancy in the physical and mental natural harmony. Real healing, therefore, entails restoration of that fine, delicate balance, and real good health means making every attempt to retain it.
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit root ‘Yujir Yoge’ which means ‘to yoke, to join, to put together’. It is the only holistic approach to every single aspect of life known to man to this date: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Yoga, being a holistic science and art of living, it views every individual as whole and absolute, a unique blend of physical, mental and spiritual completeness, and all its methodology and techniques are aimed at physio-mental-spiritual harmony.
Today man has gone and ruined everything through ignorance and wrong lifestyle habits. Yoga helps to restore that balance through therapeutic practices. The health and relaxation results, once experienced are overwhelmingly tremendous, such as:
Best of all, it has been found that Yoga helps reduce and, over a period of time, even heal, a number of so called chronic ailments. These include:
So, if you are really seeking good health, mental wealth and happiness, you will take to the path of Yoga right away, on a war footing, as the saying goes. For every day you delay, you are putting off the great health benefits by at least 24 hours. Some do so for months, years, lifetimes. But, as Yoga teaches: The best time to be happy is now, the best place to be happy is here.
